(Thursday, December 31, 2009) RIVERSIDE, Calif. (KABC) -- A new program aims to push pit bull owners to get their pets fixed, and it may also relieve overcrowded shelters.
Like many pet owners, Patrick O'Neil and his brother spend a lot of time with their adopted pit bulls, whether it's tug-of-war, riding the skateboard or just sitting on the couch.
"This is their house, we just live here," O'Neil said.
But unlike many pit bull owners, both of their dogs are fixed. O'Neil says he doesn... Read More

When animal control officers in Kansas City, Kansas, seized Mike and Amy Johnson’s dog Niko in 2007 for violating the city’s ban against harboring pit bulls, it took eight months of legal wrangling and a DNA test on Niko before the city agreed with what the Johnsons and their paperwork had been saying all along—that Niko was a boxer mix. During that time Niko waited in an animal control kennel, separated from his famil... Read More
Incident Prompts Call For Ban On Pit Bulls

(Hutchinson News, The (KS) Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Aug. 2--Hutchinson resident Chris Glass is hoping the city will consider banning pit bulls after his grandmother was recently attacked by one while walking her own dog down a local street.
And Glass says he knows there are two sides to the controversial issue of banning pit bulls: Many supporters say "it's the owner, not the dog" who is ultimately responsible for any vicious actions by a pit bull, he said. "I don't think that's true at all,"... Read More
Ex-Marine Stabs And Kills Pit Bull After It Attacked Wife, Dogs
posted on July 3, 2009 at 3:57PM in news
I found this article online. Another one that goes to show how its unjust to categorize pitbulls in a category of their own as "dangerous animals". In this story, it was the case of wild dog, with no owner, following it's instincts and approaching others in it's territory. I would have done the same thing probably if I thought myself or my wife was in immediate danger, but I think that the attack had nothing to do with the breed of the dog. You read and tell me what you think. Signup to le... Read More
