You should get the 1st set of shots at 8 weeks old (distemper/hepatitis/parainfluenza/parvo combo shot or "DHPP")

The second set at 12 weeks old (another DHPP and possibly his Leptospirosis "Lepto" vaccine, depending where you live.

NOTE: Lepto is a very bad bacteria that is common in places with lots of wildlife (raccoons/deer/etc.) and can be passed on to humans)

At 16 weeks old, he'll get his final set (namely the final DHPP, final Lepto (if needed), and his Rabies vaccine)

After the final set of vaccines, the puppy doesn't need to be boostered for a year. Bordetella can be given at 16 weeks and (I believe) is a one time vaccine that lasts for a year (ask your vet about it). Also, with the Bordetella vaccine, some kennels require it to be given every six months instead of once a year.

Depending when the bordetella is given, ask your vet if any of the vaccines should be separated out by a week or so. Having a ton of vaccines given at once can be a bit much for a dog (usually small breeds, not pits, but you never know).

Also, depending on where you live, Lyme and Rattlesnake vaccines are also available. Lyme is a disease carried by ticks that can attack the joints. Rattlesnake vaccine would be a good choice if you live around them. IT IS NOT AN ANTI-VENOM. It will only delay the severe reaction caused by the venom and give you a bit longer to get help for your pup.

You should also take a poop sample (freshly collected) with you so the vet can run a fecal and check for worms. They routinely worm pups when they come in, but some parasites require a special medicine.
